 | Injury Worsens, Return Delayed For Athletics Demel
Tuesday, October 11th, 2011: Athletics reliever Sam Demel has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation for a tired arm. He was expected to finish treatment soon and rejoin the team slightly ahead of schedule, but now doctors will reevaluated him after he felt severe pain in a recent workout. The preliminary examination revealed more damage and is worse than the first injury. Anonymous sources in Oakland told BNN Sam Demel would be absent from the roster quite a bit longer than originally diagnosed. He would now have to miss at least 2 weeks.
This year Demel has made 73 relief appearances with 1 save. In 80.1 innings, he has permitted 66 hits, fanned 58 hitters and recorded 5 wins and 5 losses with a 3.14 ERA. |
