Chalk Goes on Rampage Against Hooks
Sunday, June 12th, 2011: The Missions whipped the Hooks 18-4 at Whataburger Field and Brad Chalk had a big hand in the win. The Missions center fielder came to the plate 6 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Chalk and a tough day for Corpus Christi.

"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."

Plan or not, Chalk delivered today -- 5-6 is outstanding in any league.

B. Chalk singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

This year Chalk is hitting .280 with no home runs and 19 RBIs in 45 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .344 with 11 walks and 17 runs scored.
Stanton Whacks 3 out of the Park for Midland
Friday, June 10th, 2011: Michael Stanton, right fielder for the Midland Rock Hounds, had a whale of a game, rocketing three balls out of Whataburger Field against the Corpus Christi Hooks today in their 23-11 victory.

After the game he said, "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them. The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves... all three were mistakes."

For the game Stanton was 4-4 with 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Stanton added, "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives. Today I found the home run stroke."

M. Stanton hit a GRAND SLAM off C. Salamida in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off B. Hallberg in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off B. Hallberg in the 8th, walked in the 8th and walked in the 9th.

Stanton is hitting .225 in 2011 with 46 RBIs and 17 home runs.
