| Breaking News |  | Lake Elsinore's Frederick Gets CAL Player of the Week
Monday, June 13th, 2011: Melvin Frederick went on a week-long hitting spree against California League pitchers and captured the Player of the Week honors.
The Lake Elsinore right fielder battered the opposition for 11 hits, 1 home run, 5 runs batted in and scored 5 runs. He hit .458 and posted a .500 on-base percentage.
Frederick's current batting average stands at .304 and he has chalked up 4 home runs and 26 RBIs.

 | Ortiz Takes This Week's Trophy
Monday, June 6th, 2011: A red-hot bat made Michael Ortiz the obvious choice for this week's California League Player of the Week.
The Bakersfield first baseman laid down some numbers that no one else could match, including a .481 average, 13 hits in 27 at-bats, no home runs, 5 RBIs and 9 runs scored. Say no more... he got the award.
Ortiz is hitting .337 for the season with 9 home runs, 35 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He has 70 hits in 208 at-bats and played in 55 games.

 | Rosario Collects CAL Pitching Award
Wednesday, June 1st, 2011: In May, Amado Rosario tore through the California League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 23 years old.
The young Visalia starter posted a 5-0 mark and an ERA of 1.38 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 39 innings he collected 59 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .158 average.
Rosario has fashioned a 7-2 mark for the season, 1.91 ERA and thrown 66 innings in 10 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .193 against him.
