Red-Hot Sanchez CAR Player of the Week
Monday, June 13th, 2011: Karexon Sanchez went on a hitting spree last week against Carolina League pitchers and today copped the Player of the Week Award.

The Kinston Indians second baseman peppered the opposition with 9 hits in 19 at-bats, 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored. In the last 6 games he hit .474 with an on-base percentage of .577.

This year Sanchez has 7 home runs and a .271 batting average.

Freeman CAR's Best of the Week
Monday, June 6th, 2011: It was announced today that Lynchburg right fielder Wesley Freeman snagged the Carolina League Player of the Week Award for his outstanding play last week.

He posted a .387 batting average as he collected 12 hits, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs.

So far this season Freeman has 8 home runs and a .297 batting average.

Thall CAR Winner, Top Hurler in May
Wednesday, June 1st, 2011: "The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we may have to start inviting him out with us after the games."

Chad Thall put together a very solid month to take home the Carolina League's top pitching honor in May.

The 25-year-old reliever threw like a veteran. In 16 relief appearances he raked in 5 saves and 32 strikeouts in 27.1 innings as he put together his 4-0 record and 1.98 ERA.

Up to this point in the season, Thall has fashioned a 5-4 won-lost mark, made 30 relief appearances and rung up 10 saves. He has a 2.20 ERA and has allowed 40 hits over his 49 innings of work, struck out 54 batters and walked 17.
