| Breaking News |  | SOU Trophy Goes to Rufino of Charleston Monday, June 13th, 2011: 26-year-old Wady Rufino made a few Charleston headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and South Atlantic League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 11 hits in 24 at-bats to put up a .458 average. Rufino collected 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 6 runs.
Rufino has a .342 average and a .408 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 79 hits, 14 home runs and driven in 60 runs. |  | Young Cracks 5 Hits Sunday, June 12th, 2011: It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Todd Young. It was a very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Young went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Savannah pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at Bowling Green Ballpark, he had a career 5-6 day and something he will long remember. And the Bowling Green Hot Rods had a 20-13 victory over the Sand Gnats.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview.
T. Young hit an RBI single in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off J. Fuller in the 7th.
On the year Young is hitting .295 with 72 hits, 6 home runs, 41 RBIs, .374 OBP and has scored 37 runs. |  | MacFadden Earns SOU Player of the Week Monday, June 6th, 2011: Today the South Atlantic League announced its Player of the Week Award winner -- Bowling Green Hot Rods right fielder Brent MacFadden, who batted .467 (14-30) with 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
