| Breaking News |  | Best SL2 Pitcher Announced Tuesday, June 14th, 2011: The Lexington HS clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Jacob Jackson will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2011 Sub League 2 Outstanding Pitcher Award.
Jackson made 10 starts this year, winning 6 and losing 2. He threw 65 innings, fanned 69, allowed 65 hits and 5 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .255 average as he logged an impressive 1.66 ERA. |  | Outstanding Pitcher Award Goes to Ward Tuesday, June 14th, 2011: He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Mike Ward performed like a veteran on the hill for the Churchill HS Turbines and walked away with the Sub League 1 Outstanding Pitcher Award in the process.
The 16-year-old Turbines star fashioned a 5-1 won-loss record in 2011 with a 1.57 ERA. In 69 innings of work and 9 starts, Ward struck out 79 while giving up 54 hits and 11 walks. He held opposing batters to a .210 average. | | | | |
